This project used our Waterproof RGB 90 LED Strip Lights to illuminate a cooling river for a do it yourself custom candle shop and our non-waterproof RGB 90 LED Strip Lights to illuminate the display cabinet of the different candle scents. The LED Lighting is being controlled by our Programmable LED Controller and the signal is being amplified by our RGB LED Signal Amplifier. We made the custom cuts with extension lead wire and re-waterproofed the LED Strip Lights in house for an additional surcharge to ensure that the project was done correctly the first time around. LED Tradeshow Exhibit for Samsung Green Energy

This is a one of a kind Trade Show LED Exhibit made to display the uses of Samsung green energy. By using our Digital DMX RGB LED Strip Light Kit and multiple additional kits they were able to create interactive chasing effects to portray the different uses of green energy. The RGB LED Strip Light provided a choice between 16 million color hues for the interactive display. Control is being provided by our STICK DMX Controller and the different lighting scenes are being triggered via dry contact swithes to the STICK Controller. As you can see the booth looks amazing and the interactive LED Lighting makes for a great way to display the Samsung products.

LED Techno Dance Floor

This eye catching project is a color changing LED Techno Dance Floor that is being controlled via DMX control for the ability of over 16 million color hues per dance square. The dance floor top has not yet been installed so this is the interiors of the project. Each dance floor square is using 3 DMX addresses for Red, Green, and Blue. By using our 24 Channel DMX Driver 8 individual dance floor squares can be controlled for amazing color effects. The square matrix layout makes for some amazing lighting effects when DMX control is applied. Party Bus Lighting using LED Strip Lights

This is another vibrant LED Customer Project using our RGB LED Color Changing Strip Lights inside of a custom rental Party Bus. To really add some mood lighting to this exquisite bus, our customer used Ribbon Star RGB 180 LED Strip Lights and our Stick 2 DMX Controller with PX24500 Driver, to bring amazing color changing effects to suite any party goers mood. Using the fully programmable DMX Controller each of the Red, Green, and Blue channels can be dimmed 255 levels for over 16 million different color possibilities. It doesn't get much more custom than this, and as you can see this bus could host one heck of a party.

Low Energy LED Houseboat Lighting

If you own a boat, houseboat, sailboat, yacht, or any other marine vessel you know that being stranded without electricity in the middle of the sea or lake could cause serious problems. With the low power consumption of LED lighting you can use less stored energy to power your Houseboat Lighting. Simply by switching some of the lighting in this houseboat to LED the energy savings is reduced by over 50% and will last much longer than any other type of bulb. As you can see the lights are plenty bright and provide an excellent lighting source in even the smallest places. Six 2foot T-10 LED Tube Lamps are being used to power the kitchen lighting and our Ribbon Star Ultra Waterproof LED Strip Light provides ultra bright and low energy lighting to the bow and stern of the boat. As you can see the lighting is amazing and the low energy consumption of the LED lighting will save power and battery life.

Amusement Park Lighting using LED Modules

This customer project using RGB color changing modules was done for an Amusement Park in Blowing Rock, NC. They used 100 Super Nova 4 RGB LED Modules to light up there free fall amusement park attraction. The RGB Controller with Remote that they used gives them the ability to choose from 31 vibrant static and color changing modes. A 200W Mean Well LED Power Supply was used to power the controller and the modules. As you can see the end result is bright, vivid and vibrant and the customer couldn't be happier with the final result.

Spin Cycle Class lit using RGB LED Strip Lights

This is a customer project that you don't see every day. Our customer used our Black Face RGB 180 LED Strip Light, and our Color Wheel Sync Controller to create an amazing color changing ambiance for her spin cycling class. She put the RGB LED Strip inside of our .2" Aluminum Extrusion with Frosted Cover to give the LED Strip lighting a clen and finished look. Power is being driven through our 600W Mean Well Power supply and the control signal is being amplified through our RGB LED Signal amplifiers. She used E27 LED Spot bulbs to add some more color changing lights to the ceiling. This project is one of a kind and definitely turned out great.

LED Handrail Staircase Lighting using LED Strip Lights

This do-it-yourself customer project was done by a customer of ours who wanted to bring light to her staircase and decided to call us for some LED Advice. We recommended our mid-level Ribbon Star Max Warm White LED Strip Lights and a simple Remote Controlled PWM LED Dimmer using a 60W Plug in Power Supply. She then installed the lights under the handrails in a routed groove, then wired them together so that both strips operate on the dimmer switch. This was her first LED project and it looks like it was done by a professional. She couldn't be happier with the project and in her own words says, "The effect is really beautiful at night and we eliminated any stair/safety worries with house guests. I am so happy with your products that I am already looking for another project."

Sandblasted LED Chandelier using G4 LED Barrels and Wine Bottles

This is another great project made by one of our fine customers that specialize in sand blasted glass work. They took 9 old wine bottles and sand blasted them to look as you see them now. They then lit the bottles using our White G4 LED Barrels and powered using one of our 12VDC LED Power Supplies. For such a basic concept this customer project really is exquisite and one of a kind. Also, the 9 G4 Barrel LED bulbs only consume a total of 14.4 watts and have a lifespan of 50,000 hours. So not only does this lamp look great, but also is energy saving, eco-friendly, and will provide a lifetime of unique and eye catching lighting.

LED Lighting at Baoli Restaurant and Lounge using LED Strip Lights

This amazing project was created by our customer at clubTech LLC. They used our LED Lighting products to bring life to Baoli Restaurant and Lounge in Miami Beach, Florida. Using our RGB LED Strip Lights, controlled by DMX control and DMX LED Drivers, they transformed the cove lighting in the ceiling to be whatever color that fits their mood. He used White LED Strip Lights in the bar area to bring bright and vivid lighting to the wine cases and bar display. Interior Home Lighting using Warm White and RGB LED Strip Lights

This is a great interior LED project done by a customer of ours using a combination of both Warm White and RGB Color Changing LED Strip Lights. Our Ribbon Star Ultra Warm White LED Strip Lights brought bright and inviting warm white lighting in places such as under cabinets where a single color light is most suitable. He then used our color changing RGB 180 Black Face LED Strip Lights to add color controllable accent lighting in living room coves and kitchen nooks. The Warm White LED Strips are being dimmed using our 60W and 150W Dimmable power supplies, dimmable by low voltage magnetic dimmer. The RGB LED Strip Lights are being controlled by our PRO RGB LED Controller. As you can see from the pictures the LED Lighting looks great and will add an amazing ambiance to each space when construction is completed. Channel Letter lighting using Waterproof LED Strip Lights

This is an amazing project done by a customer of ours who installed LED Strip Lights in the channel letters of his orthodontics office. In his own words, "The project was lots of fun to create and the LEDs look amazing at night." The Ribbon Star Ultra Extreme White -12V LED Strip Light was simply wrapped around the edges of each letter. Power was being supplied by our 12VDC 60W LinkCom Power Supply. You can tell by the pictures how great the LED lights make the channel letters look at night and the installation can easily be done by any do-it-your-selfer. Our customer did a great job on this project and we are both very happy with the results.

Outdoor Sculpture Lighting using RGB 90 TPU LED Strip Lights

This beautiful outdoor sculpture was created by our very talented customer and lit using our RGB 90 TPU Waterproof LED Strip Lights. The title of the piece is "Milky Way", installed in Bend, Oregon, commissioned by Art in Public Places, images courtesy of Devin Laurence Field ©2013. As you can see the color changing RGB LED Strip Lighting really adds another dimension to this sculpture at night. The TPU IP68 Waterproof and UV proof LED Strip will be sure to last for years even under the harshest elements. Custom cuts and connections were provided by Eco Light LED for an additional charge. We are proud to say that we could provide lighting for this amazing piece of art work.

4x4 Under Cab Rock Crawler Lighting using LED Modules

This DIY off road lighting project was done by our customer using 24 Super Nova 4 White LED Modules. 12 modules are installed under each side of his Jeep hooked up to a 12VDC battery source. As you can see from the images the lighting is ample enough to see any obstacles under the vehicle while rock crawling. The LED modules are small enough to conceal in spaces that won't damage the light. This simple installation can be done by any 4x4 enthusiast giving you bright and energy saving lighting that will not draw all the power from your battery. LED Interior & Exterior Truck Accent Lighting

This job was done by a customer of ours that specialize in custom vehicle upgrades. The interior and exterior of the truck is being lit using our RGB 90 LED Strip lights, capable of 16 million different color choices with the right controller. They used small strips in the wheel wells around the truck as well as interior lighting under the floor mat as well as under the seats. Using our easily concealable Mini RGB Controller, the user is given the options of a variety of static colors and color changing effects. Power is being derived from the vehicles 12VDC power source. Standing Jewelry Case Lighting using LED Strip Lights

This first time LED user created bright and vivid display lighting for her standing jewelry cases using our Ribbon Star Ultra LED Strip Lights and 12VDC Plugin Power Supplies. This was her first LED project and we were there every step of the way to be sure achieved this amazing end result. She used Strip Light Quick Connectors to cut and re-connect her LED Strips to the 12VDC Power Source. As you can see the Ribbon Star Ultra does an excellent job lighting up these jewelry cases and our customer couldn't be more pleased with her final results.

Kitchen Cabinet Lighting using LED Strip Lights

This great under and interior cabinet lighting project was done by a customer of ours using Ribbon Star Max Warm White LED Strip Light. He hard wired various LinkCom Power Supplies for his different lighting locations. This was his first experience using LED Strip Lights in his kitchen so we recommended the proper supplies for his project. This is what he had to say about our products and customer service, "I ordered product on the 7th and it was delivered quickly this morning (11th). Couldn't wait to get started. These lights really are great and the wattage is just right for under cabinets! The pictures show different combinations of light in the kitchen. Inveno Design Studio Creates Octopus Lamp with Color Changing LEDs

If you’re a fan of the Pixar movies, you’ll like Inveno’s new Octopus lamp, an adorable LED light fixture that has a futuristic-yet-personal vibe. Made to stand in the corner or on your desktop, the Octopus Lamp comes in two sizes—long and skinny, or short and stout. Both are cute as heck, and both use color-changing LED Strip lights to glow in several different colors, like red, blue, yellow and orange. It’s not yet clear where you can buy the Octopus lamp, but we’ll let you know when we hear that it’s available for purchase. This italian restaurant used RGB led strip to light up the crown molding and recessed ceiling in their dining area.  They also have included small hanging lights hung irregularly from the ceiling, creating a magical effect.

LED Lights Help Scientists Demystify Firefly Sex

For fireflies, size does matter—that is, the size of a spermatophore: a “package containing sperm and nourishment for the female,” which a male delivers to his lover once physical contact has been made. We should all be so lucky.

Biologists Adam South and Sara Lewis from Tufts University discovered this previously unknown detail of firefly courtship while using LED lights to mimic the insects’ highly luminous mating ritual. They discovered that while the males’ flashing light displays are important for initially attracting a mate (the females only flash back to males whose light patterns they find attractive), the size and transfer of this beneficial “package” is what seals the deal. In the first part of the study, scientists used small, dimmable LED lights to replicate male firefly flashes (both attractive and unattractive) for an audience of female fireflies. Then they placed both male and female flies in a small container and recorded the proceedings under infrared LED strips. There, researchers witnessed female fireflies choosing males based on the size of their spermatophore, not on the patterns of their light display, as previously thought. “Attractive flashes only seem to benefit males during the early stages of firefly courtship. Initially, flashes are important,” he explained. “[But] once males make physical contact, females switch to [this] alternative cue.”

Maybe fireflies aren’t so different from humans after all—a nice looking partner may attract us from the start, but in the long run, we’d much prefer one who can bring home the occasional bag of groceries.

LED Lights Shine at London Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Besides Germany’s lack of fashion sense and the fact that Paul McCartney can still hit high notes, one of the most amazing aspects of the London Olympics opening ceremonies was the complete and utter invasion of LED lights into every aspect of the show.From the many theatrical, dance and music performances to the stage production, special effects and audience interaction, LED lights made the event shine. Here are some of my favorite uses:

Each seat in the stadium was backed with DMX LED lights, which turned the audience into a customizable, digital canvas that enhanced the show.

Colorful LED wall washers were used throughout the event, which depicted highlights from British history including the pastoral era, the industrial revolution, and groundbreaking cultural icons, such as Mary Poppins and The Beatles.

In one section, nurses put children to bed under blankets illuminated with dimmable LED lights.

The choreography, creativity and coordination that went into planning and pulling off the Opening Ceremony must have been staggering—it was truly impressive and inspiring to watch. If you missed it, you might be able to catch highlights on the NBC online Olympic channel.

2014 LED Light Installations Abound

At times like these, technology is invaluable. I remember a few years back when we all had to wait until a few days after Burning Man was over to start seeing images of the beautiful art decorating the Playa. But nowadays—remote desert locale be damned—images are finding their way to us during the event, come hell or high desert winds. The following images by Neil Girling convey the diversity and ingenuity of several LED light-based art installations at Burning Man 2012, and at the very least, should provide some inspiration for any artist who has misplaced his or her mojo. If you didn’t get to grace Black Rock City this year, or if you simply need a reminder of the creativity that exists outside your front door, sit back and enjoy the RGB LED-laced eye candy that follows. There’s plenty where that came from.

Here we have a giant electric guitar, which appears to be illuminated with LED strips. I’m sure this piece is refreshing for analog music lovers on the Playa, as much of the Burning Man experience these days is wrought with laptop-wielding electronic music producers.

Next we have a simple-yet-lovely shade structure with a nature-lovers theme. Thought you had to go to Japan to find a great Bonsai tree? Think again.

Let the sparks fly! This installation is exploding (albeit a little early, seeing as how Saturday’s burn has yet to come), but underneath all that fire, I’m guessing there might be some LED light fixtures.

I love the look of the spherical structure to the right in this image. It reminds me of an underwater creature, especially in the glow of nearby LED wall washers.



And finally we have a space-age looking structure which in all probability is also an art car or mobile vehicle of some sort. Judging by the saturated blue hue, it’s illuminated with a DMX LED lighting system.

RGB LED Lights Create Interactive Environment, Liquid Space

Liquid Space by Daan Roosegaarde is a lot of things. It’s an interactive space; it’s a kinetic sculpture; and it’s a mesmerizing piece of LED light art. Inspired by the movements of jellyfish, this three-pronged structure is tall enough for an average sized person to stand under and moves in a way that’s both organic and robotic—like a bionic creature straight out of an epic sci-fi saga. Dutch artist Roosegaarde describes Liquid Space as an “interactive space which physically becomes bigger, smaller and brighter in relation to human behavior. As organic fusion of mechanisms, embedded electronics, sound and LEDs the artwork creates a playful dialogue with its visitors.”

This incredible piece of art (version 6.0) premiered at The Yamaguci Center for Arts and Media in Japan in 2008. The second version (6.1) made its first appearance at Oerol, a summer festival on the island of Terschellings in New Zealand in 2009. It has made several appearances every year since then across Europe, from the United Kingdom to Germany and the Netherlands. Like many of Roosegaarde’s pieces, Liquid Space emphasizes the marriage between humanity and technology, and juxtaposes nature with the industrialized world. Watching Liquid Space in action, the thing that strikes me most is how fun it looks to dance and play beneath the giant. The Daft Punk LED Helmets: Build Your Own!

Halloween is fast approaching, and so it’s no wonder this amazing DIY LED helmet caught my eye. Turns out it’s a replica of one of the helmets worn onstage by the members of Daft Punk, the French house duo largely responsible for defining that genre of electronic music. Since 2001, Daft Punk has been dawning highly intricate, sci-fi inspired LED helmets on stage. As much as a four-to-the-floor beat and fist pumping is synonymous with the Daft Punk sound, these helmets have become an undeniable part of their unique and forward thinking visual aesthetic during live shows. Agent RayBans, someone I can only imagine to be a huge fan of both Daft Punk and LED lighting technology, put together the following helpful chart, which chronicles the different helmets worn by the band over the years.

According to Agent RayBans, the now out of business company LED FX and Alterain, Inc. are responsible for making the helmets, with help in the design department from Daft Punk members Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. Considering how new LED technology was in the early 2000s, the fact that the DMX LED helmets were capable of displaying text and synching images and patterns to music is pretty impressive. It also makes sense that making them is said to have cost $65,000. Wow!

Several equally obsessive Daft Punk fans and LEDIYers have figured out how to make similar helmets. There is a variety of instructions out there but here are the best I’ve found.

This one, uses flexible LED strip and replicates Guy’s helmet from the Discovery era, but takes 17 months to build! (I guess if you hurry, you can start now and try to get it ready for Halloween 2014!)

Edwin Cheong Creates Stunning LED Light Art in Singapore

Edwin Cheong is a talented light artist with a diverse portfolio that employs all kinds of interactive LED lighting. Based in Singapore, Cheong is more than just a tinkerer; he holds a Masters in Architecture, lectures about art and design and creates stunning art pieces that often combine environmental, interactive, kinetic and LED light elements. In fact, he is the man behind the 33ft tall 2012 Youth Olympic Games Commemorative Sculpture in Singapore, called Breathe. Installed on the Olympic Walk in Singapore, this kinetic sculpture harvests wind power with its delicate circular pieces, and uses the energy to illuminate LED outdoor lights at night.

One of my favorite installations by Cheong is Positive Attracts. The piece consists of several haunting figures, standing in a cluster. Hidden infrared sensors detect when passersby are close and trigger internal DMX LED lights. The lights ignite, filling the figures with beautiful colors that the artist hopes will fill the viewer with doses of optimism. Each figure is said to represent a different real life “hero”. Quotes at the bases of the sculptures help spectators guess who the sculpture represents.

Japan’s Winter Illuminations Takes LED Light Reveals to New Heights

Japan is filled with beautiful gardens, but none are as stunning as Nabana no Sato Botanical Garden, located on the island of Nagashima in Kuwana. From November until March 2013, the grounds have been transformed into an illuminated environment called “Winter Illuminations.” Designers used millions of RGB LED lights to transform the gardens into what many call one of the most impressive light installations in Japan.

The theme of the installation this year is nature, and so the LED outdoor lights depict natural motifs like Mount Fuji at sunrise, a rainbow across the sky and an aurora. The most talked about feature of the gardens is its tunnels, which stretch on for several meters and are created entirely with LED strip lights. Inside the tunnels, viewers are completely surrounded by sparkling light; as Joanna Tocher of Wide Island View said, “if you can shut out the noise of the hundreds of people around you it really does feel like you’re stepping into another world.”

Considering the staggering amount of lighting fixtures employed for this installation, it’s a great thing designers chose energy efficient LED lights to create it. Not only are they capable of dynamic programming and color display, but they also use less than any other similar lighting fixture on the market.  I don’t know about you, but if I have the chance to get to Japan before March, I will certainly check out Winter Illuminations!

Oakland Zoo Boasts Biggest LED Holiday Light Show in Bay Area

Creature and holiday-lovers unite! I’ve got the perfect trip for you, if you live in the Bay Area: head on over to the Concord Zoo to glance some of the earth's most amazing non-humans AND some of California’s best RGB LED illumination. Effect Lighting developed the Zoo’s main mild display, which fills up a field with a large number of DMX LED illumination developed in animal forms and synched to vacation songs. There are also sweets walking stick lane-theme trips and a evening hours trip on the Outback Show practice, outlined with vibrant LED feature illumination. The set up uses large numbers of power effective LED illumination, which light up plants, animal enclosures, routes and more; the Concord Zoo’s vacation mild display is known to be the biggest in the Bay Place, and has been an yearly custom for several years operating. Top it off with Ghirardelli hot chocolate appears providing up the good items, and I’m not sure what more you could ask for. But in case you do have provides on the mind, Santa will be there too, pleasant picture and present request-opportunities as well.

Paris’ Nuit Blanch Comes to Lifestyle with Ghostly LED Sculptures

As if there were not enough reasons to go to London, Nuit Blanch is the France city’s yearly party of art, performance and mild. The event draws large numbers of guests each season, as exhibits and museums, stores, exhibits and entertainment facilities stay open the whole night for one day. This season Nuit Blanch took place on Oct 6th, and presented many amazing mild set ups. One of the most discussed, Les Gardiens du Trésor, contains several cable statues, lighted with RGB LED lighting, creating ghost-like statues that seem to drift in area. The LED wall units created a vibrant effect but throw spooky dark areas though the empty numbers, which were placed near the Crédit Public de London as parents. The specialist designed to create a legendary area, giving audiences a chance to “stroll through the wonderful world of misconceptions and mild, a modern story associated with unique music by Sophie Bommart.” See more from this season's Nuit Blanch here.

Singapore’s LED Supertrees Take Farming to New Heights

Town farming is becoming more popular, and for valid reason. Increasing your own food is one of the best ways to cause a more maintainable way of life. But in Singapore, they have taken urban farming to new levels, basically. The town has lately revealed incredible straight landscapes, which involve 18 tree-like components which range from 82 to 164 ft. high. Each framework bounty solar panel technology to run the attractive RGB LED lighting that light up it at night, while also offering extra power for the city. Besides looking extremely awesome, the “supertrees” provide several important features. They currently are home to over 200 varieties of blossoms, ferns, and epiphytes, which generate fresh air and act as a natural air conditioning system. The plants also gather rain water, and the highest one has a cafe at the top, which is start from 5am-2am. In a world where deforestation is all too big of a problem, it’s awesome to know that some companies and nations are considering intelligent, creativeways to breathing some life back into our places.

How to cut single color LED Strip Lights and use Quick Connector Products

LED Strip Lights are such a versatile product do to the fact that they can easily be cut on the given cut lines and connected at any point between the copper dots on the LED Strip Lights, cut lengths vary between products. See the below tutorial for a complete guide on cutting LED Strip Lights and using quick connectors for connection.


1.) Find the Cut Line
When cutting LED Strip Light it is very important to cut only on the given cut line between the copper dots. Cutting through or before the copper dots will result in no electrical conductivity to the following section.

2.) Cut the LED Strip Light
Use a pair of sharp scissors to cut the LED Strip Light directly down the given cut line.

3.) Determine the Top of Quick Connector
Quick Connectors can only be used when the top is facing upwards. It is important to determine the polarity on the LED Strip Light as well as sometimes if connecting from the opposite end wire colors can be crossed and cause confusion.

*BE SURE YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT SIZE QUICK CONNECTOR AS THEY VARY IN WIDTH DEPENDING ON THE LED STRIP YOU ARE USING.*

4.) Pull out Black Plastic
Gently pull out the black plastic piece about 1/8 of an inch. Be sure not to pull too hard and damage the quick connector.

5.) Peel Back 3M Adhesive
Peel back the tape of the 3M adhesive approximately 1/4 of an inch.

6.) Insert Strip Light into Quick Connector
Insert Strip Light into connector, check the wire polarity (red wire to positive) copper dots should not be visible.

*QUICK CONNECTORS CAN BE USED ON EITHER END OF RIBBON. IF USED ON OPPOSITE END BE CERTAIN OF THE POLARITY AND NOTE THE WIRE COLOR REVERSAL.*

7.) Secure Quick Connector
With connector between your 4 fingers, squeeze the black piece closed.

This is what a proper installation will look like, now test by connecting lead wires to a power source.

How to hook up a PWM Dimmer to your LED Lights

Hooking up a PWM Dimmer to your single color common anode LED Lights is a pretty straight forward process. Incorrect wiring or over driving the dimmer can result in the product simply not working, flickering lights, and can ultimately damage the product. Follow these simple wiring steps in order to be sure of correct installation.

1.) Calculate the PWM Dimmers Maximum Load
On all of our PWM Product web pages you can find the PWM dimmers maximum wattage load. We recommend never pushing any product to the maximum load but instead leave a 10-15% cushion as to not over drive and damage any of the product. For example, this PWM Dimmer can handle 96W, subtract 9.6W for the 10% cushion, leaving you with a max load of around 86W.

2.) Determine a Sufficient Power Supply
See our Power Supply Tutorial to further educate yourself on determining a sufficient power supply for your product. Mainly you must be certain that your power supply is large enough to handle the power load that will be coming from your PWM Dimmer.


3.) Hook up PWM Dimming System
Once you have determined a sufficient PWM Dimmer and DC Power Supply you can then simply hook up your PWM Dimmer to your LED system. The PWM Dimmer will come after the power supply and will have a DC input for power in from your power supply and a DC output for power and dimming signal to your LED Lights.
